Sustainability is
a question of location.

Computing power needs one thing above all: electricity – and plenty of it. Where that electricity comes from determines how large the ecological footprint of a facility actually is. That is why our data centre is located in Iceland.

Iceland produces around 55,000 kWh of green electricity per capita per year – more than any other country. The average of the European Union is less than 6,000 kWh. Iceland's electricity sector is based entirely on renewable energy: hydropower, geothermal energy and wind energy.

On top of that comes the cool climate. Cooling is a significant energy factor in data centres – in Iceland it is considerably lower than in warmer regions. Location and operation therefore reinforce each other.

As a young company we also work with a lean business model: efficient, cost-effective, flexible and fast to react. That too is a contribution – because resources are not tied up in structures that are not needed.
